Why Corrective Exercises Are the First Line of Defense Against Chronic Pain

If you are experiencing pain or discomfort, for example in your knee, neck, back or shoulder, corrective exercises are the first steps you should take to end it.  Results are profound and immediate, and best of all, can be easily reproduced daily in the luxury of your home.

What Is Corrective Exercise?

A corrective Exercise is a repetitive movement, a stretch or a posture that you hold, that is selected for an individual based on muscular imbalance. Muscle imbalance and muscle issues are often the root cause of chronic pain.

When most people seek treatment, often the source of their pain, ( the knee, back, etc.), is the only thing examined and treated.  That becomes the focus of treatment and nothing else is looked at as a potential cause of their pain. For instance, knee pain is frequently caused by lack of mobility in the hip, or even the ankle. To find the true cause of pain, look at the joints above and below the source.

At Better Bodies, we don’t attempt to treat symptoms.  We look at the whole body through postural assessments and movement analysis.

How Corrective Exercises Work

Corrective exercises eliminate pain by allowing you to make positive changes in the way you move.  They get to the underlying cause of your pain.  Not just ways to mask or reduce your pain.  Corrective exercises allow each client to return to daily, work related, and sports activities, in a safe and effective way.

The benefits are:

  • Pain relief.
  • Empowerment:  Results allow you to take control over pain with out drugs, surgery, or, manipulation.
